Eight people died on the spot and two others on admission at Gweru Provincial Hospital while 12 others who were seriously injured were admitted at the same hospital.

The villagers say they heard a loud bang and rushed to the scene where they found bodies scattered all over the place while others were still trapped inside the vehicles.

Meanwhile, Gweru Provincial Hospital medical superintendent Dr Fabian Mashingaidze has confirmed that of the 16 people admitted, five have severe injuries. Source: zbc
